About Minerva

General information for customers considering Minerva.

Minerva is a practical and stylish solid-surface worksurface made from modified acrylic. It is manufactured to a full 25mm thickness, with colour running throughout the material, creating a beautifully consistent finish that is durable and easy to maintain.

Yes. Minerva solid worksurfaces do not contain silica. The material is made using natural minerals bound within a high-performance acrylic polymer matrix.

Dust will still be produced when the worksurface is cut or sanded, so installers must follow the safety instructions provided, including using suitable dust extraction and working in a well-ventilated area.

Minerva is available in a range of worksurface, breakfast bar, sink module, upstand and splashback sizes. Dimensions vary depending on the product and décor selected.

Full measurements and product options can be found in the latest Minerva brochure on the Carysil website.

Yes. You can request a sample of your preferred Minerva décor through the Carysil website. Samples are a helpful way to view the colour and finish alongside your cabinets, flooring and other kitchen features before making your final choice.

Installation & Technical FAQs

Questions relating to fitting, appearance and technical guidance.

No. Minerva can be installed by an experienced kitchen fitter or competent tradesperson using standard woodworking tools. However, the installation instructions must be followed carefully to achieve the best finish and protect the product guarantee.

You can find full fitting instructions and guidance on the Minerva page.

Minerva can be joined to create a smooth, hygienic and virtually seamless finish when installed correctly. The final appearance will depend on the chosen décor and the quality of the installation.

With veined or strongly patterned décors, some variation across the joint should be expected because every section of the pattern is unique.

Installation, cleaning and maintenance guidance is available on the Carysil website. We recommend reading the instructions before installation and keeping them for future reference.

Care & Maintenance FAQs

Everyday care, protection and repair.

Yes. Minerva is heat-resistant, but it is not heatproof. Everyday kitchen appliances can be used safely when the appropriate precautions are taken. Always protect the surface from prolonged or direct heat to prevent discolouration or damage.

No. Hot pans, baking trays and cookware should never be placed directly onto a Minerva worksurface. Always use a suitable heat-resistant mat or trivet to protect the surface.

Heat protection should also be used underneath countertop appliances that generate prolonged heat, including air fryers, slow cookers and portable grills.

Minerva is non-porous and highly resistant to everyday stains. Most spills and marks can be removed using warm soapy water, a mild detergent or the recommended Minerva care products.

Spills should still be wiped away promptly, particularly strongly coloured substances or harsh chemicals. More stubborn marks can usually be treated using the Minerva Care and Maintenance Kit.

Like all kitchen worksurfaces, Minerva can develop scratches through everyday use. The good news is that its solid, colour-through construction means many minor scratches and marks can be carefully removed using the Minerva Care and Maintenance Kit.

Always use chopping boards and avoid cutting directly on the worksurface.

For everyday cleaning, use warm soapy water or a mild detergent with a soft cloth. Stubborn marks can usually be removed using a non-abrasive cream cleaner or the Minerva Care and Maintenance Kit.

Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners and scouring pads, as these may damage the surface.

Yes. Because Minerva is solid and has colour running throughout its full thickness, many minor scratches, marks and areas of everyday wear can be carefully removed.

The Minerva Care and Maintenance Kit can be used for minor surface restoration. For deeper scratches or more significant damage, we recommend contacting an experienced kitchen fitter or surface repair specialist.

Sink Module FAQs

Compatibility and sink-module features.

All Minerva sink modules are supplied with factory-machined drainer grooves. A fully recessed drainer area is available on selected sink modules, including modules fitted with Minerva’s 25mm-radius acrylic bowls.

Please check the latest brochure or individual module specification before ordering.

Boiling-water taps can be used with Minerva sink modules fitted with compatible steel, granite or ceramic bowls.

They must not be used with Minerva acrylic sink bowls. Always check the specification of your chosen sink module and follow the tap manufacturer’s installation guidance.

Yes. The sink bowl options currently offered with Minerva sink modules are suitable for use with standard waste disposal units. Always check that there is sufficient space within the base cabinet and follow the waste disposal manufacturer’s installation instructions.
