Sole sisters walking for change
At Carysil UK, we believe in supporting the people behind our business… not just as colleagues, but as individuals with incredible stories, resilience, and heart. This month, we’re proud to support two members of our team, Ellie and Emma, as they take on a truly inspiring challenge: a 26.2-mile charity walk in support of Cancer Research UK.
A Personal Journey…
For Ellie, this walk isn’t just a physical challenge, it’s deeply personal. In February 2020, her mum was diagnosed with incurable kidney cancer, a discovery made only after the disease had spread to her bones. Despite ongoing treatment, the cancer advanced, and in October 2023, Ellie sadly lost her mum.
“Taking part in this walk means so much to me,” Ellie shares. “It’s about supporting a cause that has affected my family and changed my life. Completing this challenge is my way of honouring my mum, while also pushing myself mentally and physically.”
The idea for the walk started in a casual conversation between Ellie and Emma. “We heard about the challenge on the radio,” Ellie recalls. “Emma and I had been talking about our general health and wanted to take on something meaningful together, something that would test us while giving back.”

The Challenge Ahead
The duo will be walking a marathon-distance 26.2 miles through the stunning Peak District, beginning and ending in Bakewell. Their route follows the scenic Monsal Trail, taking in historic sights like Chatsworth House, but this isn’t a stroll through the countryside.
Training has been rigorous. “We started small,” Ellie says. “Our first walk was 10 miles, and we’ve gradually increased the distance. Our most recent walk was 22.5 miles on May 25th. We’re nearly there.”
What’s the toughest part? “It’s going to be a mental game,” they agree. “Physically, we’re preparing, but staying motivated through every mile will be the real challenge.”
